Get to know me

Dr Andrea Polzer-Debruyne smiling

I'm a registered psychotherapist in New Zealand with a PhD in Psychology.

In our work together, I'll bring a combination of academic theories, practical knowledge, and personal insights to the table, along with a spiritual approach to healing, change, and growth.

Born and raised in a small town near Frankfurt (Germany), I have lived in the United States, and for a short while in the United Arab Emirates, before moving to New Zealand.

My professional journey is as diverse as my personal one. After an initial career in the hospitality industry, I switched tack and studied psychology.

With a PhD in Psychology, I worked for twenty years on exciting projects in the organisation-focused Learning & Development space and taught at The University of Auckland as well as Massey University.

Subsequent studies, qualifications, and work in psychotherapy and counseling added to the professional tool kit I bring to my clients.

My clients come from a variety of backgrounds

I work with adults of all ages who are wondering how to reduce their anxiety, depression, and self-limiting beliefs.

I work with clients who want to explore their purpose, often after significant life changes.

And I work with managers and people leaders who have recognised that to lead others, they need to learn to lead themselves.

I have trained, studied, learned from and worked with some fantastic people who are specialists in the following areas:

  • Integrative Psychotherapy

  • Question Thinking

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Havening Techniques

  • Person-centred Therapy

  • Logotherapy

  • Systems Approach

  • Somatic Therapy Approaches

  • Waldbaden (Shirin Yoku)

  • Transactional Analysis

  • Meditation

  • Mindfulness

  • The Essenes’ spiritual philosophy

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy

To uncover the patterns that are blocking you from a more enjoyable and satisfying life, in our sessions I draw on any holistic mix of these therapeutic approaches.

Where appropriate, in Auckland (NZ) I am also working collaboratively with a Korean SAAM Acupuncture (= Mind Acupuncture) practitioner and a highly skilled holistic osteopath, offering clients additional therapeutic opportunities for re-alignment.

Why not get in touch and find out how my integrative therapy approach can help you to navigate some of your life’s challenges.
